Laguna de La Mata

La Mata is the calmer, birdier of the two lagoons, a shallow salt lake ringed by walking and cycling trails and dotted with hides. The park’s interpretation centre sits beside it, north of Torrevieja.

Together with the salt flats at Santa Pola and El Hondo, it forms a wetland triangle that matters for migratory and breeding birds, so there is usually plenty to see.
