Mil Palmeras is one of the busiest and most sociable beaches on this stretch, a 535-metre run of golden sand that has held a Blue Flag since 1999. It sits just south at Pilar de la Horadada, a little further than the Orihuela beaches but worth the short drive.
In summer it hosts an artisan crafts market in the evenings, and a free activity programme runs year-round, from kids’ clubs to yoga on the sand.
