Vía Verde de Torrevieja

The Vía Verde de Torrevieja is a 6.7-kilometre walking and cycling greenway laid on the former salt railway, the Albatera–Torrevieja line that opened in 1884 and closed in 1986. It runs flat and traffic-free from the restored Torrevieja station, past the salt works and out toward Los Montesinos, with views over the reddish lagoon.
From about the three-kilometre mark it passes through a natural reedbed home to birds like black-winged stilts and harriers. It is easy for all abilities on foot or by bike.
